Giro d'Italia Stage 15: Cataldo Top 10 GC, Top 15 Stage
Dario Cataldo, in a tough finish on the 7.8% average, 12% max ramp Pian Dei Resinelli, managed a 13th place (+39") finish in the 169km Stage 15 on Sunday. With his top 15 finish, he put himself back into the top 10 (2'12"), in 9th place.
"Yesterday I had great legs," Cataldo said. I suffered a lot during the stage, but I tried to maintain the gap as close as possible from the riders for the GC. For the GC today, it was a little bit better for me but not as I expected for myself. I hope from now on things will be better for me. I am really looking forward to a good classification. Maybe now it is time to change my strategy and attack one of the next days."
Matteo Rabottini (Farnese Vini-Selle Italia) , who spent all but 19km up the road from the peloton, pulled off a victory on the final corner when Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha Team) caught him in the final kilometers. He pulled around him within 500 meters of the finish. Alberto Losada Alguacil (Katusha Team) was 3rd.
