Interview: Tony Martin's First TT

The final stage of Volta ao Algarve was the first time trial of the year for world champion Tony Martin.

Tony, happy about your first TT of the season?

Considering everything yes. My winter wasn't so good and I didn't know how the condition was. So yes, I'm happy.

What was your warm up like?

I was a little bit nervous before the race. In the morning I did the reconnaisance and I did my warm up as usual before the race. I focused my attention only on how I feel, and how my bike feels.

How was your feeling during the race?

Kilometer after kilometer I felt more comfortable. I knew I had a good time even If I made two little mistakes. I was also happy because I had immediately a good feeling with my TT bike. I really like it, I feel very good on my Specialized bike and I can stay in the position I like.

How is your condition right now?

The Volta ao Algarve gave me a good race rhythm. I'm improving day by day. My next goal will be Paris-Nice. Last year it was an unforgettable race for me. I hope this year will be the same.
