La Vuelta a España Stage 19: Bouet Enters the Breakaway, Finishes Top 20

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Maxime Bouet finished 17th in the 185.8km La Vuelta a España Stage 19, from Medina del Campo to Ávila, on Friday, out of an original 24-rider breakaway.

Alexis Gougeard (AG2R - La Mondiale) won solo out of that breakaway, which was given a significant time advantage by the peloton. Nelson Oliveira (Lampre-Merida) finished 2nd, and Maxime Monfort (Lotto Soudal) finished 3rd.  The first riders of the peloton crossed more than 16 minutes down.

Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin) attacked on a cobbled climb before the finish to expand his GC lead over Fabio Aru (Astana) by 6", and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) by 1'24".

Gianluca Brambilla remains 12th in the GC, finishing 47th in the stage.

Etixx - Quick-Step looks next to the penultimate stage of La Vuelta, 175.8km Stage 20 from San Lorenzo de El Escorial to Cercedilla, on Saturday. The stage will be selective from start to finish, with four category 1 climbs.
