Tony Martin Participates in Special Dubai Cycling Event

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Tony Martin was one of the riders who participated in a unique event. Tonight, in fact, in Dubai there was an inauguration of a new bike path. However, there was much more to the special evening than the 67km bike path launch.

There were several events surrounding the launch of the bike path — for example, an exciting sprint race between Alberto Contador, Ryder Hesjedal, and Vincenzo Nibali.

One of the events also involved Martin racing against a horse on a 1km straight course. Tony couldn't beat the horse that could count on its great acceleration in such a a short race.

The nocturnal atmosphere was special as the welcome of the Sheikh Mansour, a real cycling fan. The event was also the right moment to announce a new race, which will open new scenarios in cycling. Sheikh Mansour announced a new race in 2014: The Dubai Tour. The Dubai Tour could be a short stage race, possibly following Tour of Qatar and Tour of Oman. This announcement makes cycling, year by year, more international and global.
