Training ride for Etixx – Quick-Step in Italy

Training ride for Etixx – Quick-Step in Italy

Stage 5 of Tirreno-Adriatico was cancelled due to adverse weather forecast, but our guys couldn't stay away from their bikes.

Sunday morning found the riders get an extra hour of sleep, but as soon as they got up their mind was on going outside and get on their bikes. So, after having breakfast, they went for a training session on the roads of Italy, to spin the legs and keep the momentum, on a day which initially had scheduled the fifth stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. The eight Etixx – Quick-Step riders in the race rode for about an hour, before jumping on the team's bus because of the bad weather – strong wind and rain – and heading to the hotel in Tolentino, where they continued their training on the Tacx rollers.

Winner of stage 2 and leader of the general classification, Zdenek Stybar talked about the off-day he and his teammates had: "It's an unusual situation, so we had to pay attention and keep the rhythm, so that the body didn't get too relaxed. In days like this it's very important to find the right balance between resting and keeping the mind and the body a bit busy. We still have two important days ahead of us and we are keen on doing our best."

Stage 6 of Tireno-Adriatico (Castelraimondo – Cepagatti, 210 kilometers) will be the penultimate of this year's edition and should see the win being contested from a bunch sprint.
