Trofeo Tramuntana Cancelled Due to Snow

Trofeo Tramuntana Cancelled Due to Snow

The final race of Challenge Mallorca was cancelled due to snow on Wednesday.

Based on a statement by the race organization, adverse conditions in the mountains due to snow led to a search for an alternative route after a meeting between officials, teams, race organizers and others.

Unfortunately, an alternative route could not be found because safety was not guaranteed on the roads.

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team had success thus far at Challenge Mallorca. Andy Fenn won the first two stages in bunch sprints, and several riders were aggressive in breakaways on the third stage, Trofeo Deia. Peter Velits made a successful break, but had difficulty on a final climb within 11 km of the finish line.
