Marcel's biography

One of the fastest riders in the peloton, Marcel is ready for a new chapter of his career in what will be his sixth year as a pro. Following a season in which he won a stage and the points jersey in the Tour de Pologne, three decades after his father managed the same feat, “A result that made both me and my dad very proud”, he is now keen on adding new victories and memorable moments to his palmares, all these while keeping his feet on the ground, just as he did in the past when he won a total of eight stages at the Tour de France in consecutive years.

A very popular cyclist among fans, always in touch with his supporters through social media, Marcel feels at home with Etixx – Quick-Step, where he came at the end of 2015: “The atmosphere is really great, I love it here. All the guys gave me a warm welcome and I can’t wait to race with them and show that we are a real family. I feel excellent, relaxed and I’m sure we’ll have a great time together on the road. My motivations is huge and I want to prove myself this year, which I hope is going to be great.”
