Etixx - Quick-Step rider Tony Martin won the final, 17.3km ITT of Tour de Romandie in Lausanne on Sunday with a time of 23 minutes and 17 seconds (44.581 km/h). The German TT Champion was 11 seconds faster than Simon Spilak (Katusha) and 13" faster than Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha). Zakarin, who won the overall, had a mechanical that forced him to change bikes. Martin was faster than Zakarin by 2" at the intermediate point.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Tony Martin finished 4th in the 169.8km Stage 4 of Tour de Romandie on Friday, after attempting to bridge to the leaders or at least gain a few seconds on the peloton by attacking with about 6km remaining. He went away with Julian Alaphilippe, but was unable to close the gap to the three remaining riders of the original breakaway. Gianni Meersman finished 5th, as the top rider in the field sprint behind.

Julian Alaphilippe continues to be a protagonist in the peloton, as he finished 3rd in the 166.1km group arrival of Tour de Romandie Stage 2 on Wednesday. Tony Martin did an outstanding job bringing back breakaways in the final kilometers, and then keeping the French rider at the front of the peloton inside the final kilometer of the race. Rigoberto Uran also helped his 22-year-old temmate as his final leadout man.

I think after the first week, this team can be satisfied. Just look at the results, but also the way we are riding. We are always present in the peloton. We are always present in the actions as well. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't, but …
