AMGEN Tour of California Stage 3: Verona Top Finisher on Mt. Diablo
Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team rider Carlos Verona finished 35th in the 174.5km AMGEN Tour of California Stage 3, which included a summit finish on Mt. Diablo, on Tuesday.
Rohan Dennis (Garmin-Sharp) attacked out of a select group in the final meters to win the stage. Yellow jersey wearer Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) kept the pace very high, which brought back the last rider out of the original breakaway with 5.2km to go.
Tiago Machado (Team NetApp-Endura) was 2nd, and Lawson Craddock (Team Giant-Shimano) was 3rd.
OPQS looks next to a 165.1km Stage 4 on Wednesday. The stage includes a few categorized climbs, but none are close to the finish. The course is undulating.
