Cape Argus Cycle Tour Well Organized and Fun

According to Julien Vermote, the Cape Argus Pick N Pay Cycle Tour — a 110km bike race with more than 35,000 participants in Cape Town, South Africa — was certainly a success in its 35th year.

Vermote and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck raced the event, but so did several members of the Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team Board. Vermote and Van Keirsbulck left with the first group of riders, which he said departed in the morning.

"It was a nice race," Vermote said. "We started early, at 6:15 a.m. when it was still dark. The race was very well organized. The course goes by the seaside, but there were also some hills. The parcours was not easy at all."

According to Vermote, a few riders within his group attacked later into the race.

"We tried to close the gap in the last kilometer but we couldn't, but after all it was a very good race and a very nice experience."
