Lefevere, Vandenbergh, Meersman Shine at Kristallen Fiets!
Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team CEO Patrick Lefevere won the award for Manager of the Year, for the fourth time in his career, at the Kristallen Fiets awards ceremony on Wednesday. Lefevere earned the award with 198 points, while Rudy De Bie was 2nd and Dirk Demol 3rd with 100 points. Lefevere also won the prestigious award in 2000, 2004, and 2006.
OPQS rider and super domestique Stijn Vandenbergh won the title as best helper of the year (Kristallen Zweetdruppel) with Bart De Clercq (Lotto-Belisol) and fellow OPQS rider Kristof Vandewalle placing 3rd. Vandenbergh is the second rider in a row to win this award for OPQS, as Kevin De Weert won in 2012. Vandenbergh earned the same award in 2009.
Finally, OPQS rider Gianni Meersman was 4th in the top award category of the evening: Kristallen Fiets.
