Tour of Beijing Stage 1: Two in the Top 5 of Opening Stage Sprint

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Nikolas Maes and Alessandro Petacchi finished 3rd and 4th in 190.5km Tour of Beijing Stage 1 on Friday, as the peloton brought back an original breakaway of four that was down to just one solo rider with 5km remaining in the stage.

Thor Hushovd (BMC Racing Team) won the stage, with Luka Mezgec (Argos-Shimano) placing 2nd.

Defending overall winner and OPQS rider Tony Martin finished with the peloton.

OPQS looks next to a 201.5km Stage two on Saturday, which is the longest stage of the race and features four categorized climbs.
