Tour of Beijing: Uran 9th in final GC, Golas takes polka dot jersey

The final stage of the Tour of Beijing was a thrilling fight between 2 escapees and the rest of the peloton. The stage ended in a bunch sprint eventually, with an 11th position for Nikolas Maes.

Tosh van der Sande (Lotto-Belisol) and Laurent Mangel (FDJ) attacked early in the final stage and had sight of the stage win until the final kilometres. The peloton seemed to miscalculate its tempo, but caught the escapees in the final kilometer.

Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) sprinted to the stage win. Greg Henderson (Lotto-Belisol) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) finished 2nd and 3rd. Nikolas Maes finished just outside the top-10 in 11th place.

Philippe Gilbert (Team BMC) took the overall win in the Tour of Beijing. Rigoberto Uran was the best OPQS rider in 9th position. Pieter Serry – who attacked during the final stage – finished in 11th place. Michal Golas took home the polka dot jersey as best climber in this Tour of Beijing.
