Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Stage 7: Brambilla Top 10 on Final Stage Decided by Break
The final 122km stage of Volta Ciclista a Catalunya was decided by a small escape group, while Gianluca Brambilla of Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team finished 9th on Sunday. The included an eight lap circuit, and included Cat 3 Alt de Montjuic.
OPQS Michal Golas was present in a 10 rider break that escaped at kilometer 10, but with about 22km to go, the break was caught. A group then attacked, which became the five rider escape group that decided the final.
Thomas De Gendt (Vacansoleil-DCM) won the race after the chasers caught former break mate David Lopez Garcia (Team Sky ProCycling), who attacked the break with 4.7km to go. Lopez was 2nd and Robert Kiserlovski (Radioshack-Leopard) was 3rd.
