Five unknown facts: Davide Martinelli

Five unknown facts: Davide Martinelli

Starting with this week, we kick-off a season-long series focused on unknown things about our riders.

Very likely, everybody is aware how the Etixx – Quick-Step riders came into the sport or what are their biggest results to date, but few or none know what movies and music they enjoy, or where they like to spend their holidays. Here’s your chance to find out all these.

Favourite movies: I like a lot “Tre uomini e una gamba”, an Italian movie from mid ’90s, about three friends who embark in what proves to be a big adventure for them, crossing all Italy in order to deliver to their boss a dog and a wooden leg. Another favourite of mine is “Avatar”, which is one of the best movie experiences of my life: technically original, a fascinating concept and visually spellbinding.

Favourite TV series: “The Simpsons”. Maybe some can argue it's way past its prime, but I still consider it one of the best TV shows out there and a real landmark in TV history.

Favourite music: Katy Perry and Michael Jackson. They come from different generations, but their music appeals me and gets me in a good mood every single time. Besides them, I pretty much like everything that’s new and good.

Favourite food: Well, I’m Italian, so pizza is a must. Of all the types out there, quattro stagioni and quattro formaggi are the ones I like the most. Of course, pasta are always on the menu.

Favourite holiday destination: I visited the Carribean not long ago, and it got me mesmerized; there isn’t enough words to describe that part of the world. Santo Domingo – the capital of the Dominican Republic – was quite something, with its mix of old charm and modern flair, medieval buildings and beautiful beaches.
