Yves Lampaert became a cyclist at the age of 17. After 11 years of judo, he earned his black belt and wanted to do something different. His cousin was a good cyclist at the time, and he decided to follow in his footsteps.. “Cycling is a hard sport, and I like to be on the road and see a lot of things while working. Also, the Classics are not far from my home, which makes me love them even more. I love to ride on the cobbles”. Lampaert is a son of a farmer, which helped develop a love for nature. His nickname is “The Bull from Ingelmunster”/ “de Stier van Ingelmunster” due to his riding style.
In 2015, he proved to be an important asset for the team in many top races, Paris-Roubaix and the World Team Time Trial Championships being just two examples. Besides these results, he also won a stage and the overall classification in Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen. “In 2015, I became a more complete rider, I lost some weight and I’m now much stronger in longer races, which is important for the Classics. I want to confirm in 2016, to have a smooth season, work for the team and get some nice results for myself”, said Yves.
