Niki, the team’s quintessential attacker, had the ultimate payoff in 2014. In Paris-Roubaix, the team had the numbers in a select group, including Tom Boonen. But it was Terpstra who attacked to win the biggest race of his career in the Hell of the North. "I felt happy, but really tired," Niki Terpstra said with a laugh. "When we came together in the last cobblestone section — at the end of the cobblestones — Wilfried Peeters told us if we go for the sprint we go with Tom. But, if you can attack, it's always good to open the final. So it was up to me and Zdenek to attack and they know I like to do it. So, 20 seconds later I attacked. It was the good one. When I looked behind me I saw there was a gap, so it was just full gas to the finish line. Don't look back, because that doesn't help. They will come back anyway if you check or not. Then, when I was crossing the finish line, it was just really special. I'm so satisfied. Finally I won a big one.”

Niki has two children: one-year-old Zoey and four-year-old Luca, who is his No. 1 fan and is able to pick out Niki and his teammates on television during the races. Niki has the instinct for attacks, especially from far out, and the ability to hang on alone in front thanks to his skills as a time trialist. Niki is also a great Twitter user, and one day organized a mountain bike ride for fans via Twitter. In 2015 Niki will aim to build on the success he’s had on the road and on the track.

Binche-Chimay-Binche: Terpstra Tests Peloton with Solo Attack

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Niki Terpstra tried to play to his skills in the 194.5km Binche-Chimay-Binche on Tuesday, attacking with 45km to go and maintaining a solo advantage until he was caught by chasers with 8km left to race. Nikolas Maes was in the chase group that joined with Terpstra in the final kilometers.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Niki Terpstra was the top finisher for Etixx - Quick-Step in the 38.7km ITT in Burgos on Wednesday, finishing 21st (+2'43") down from stage winner Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin). Dumoulin took over the race lead at La Vuelta with a winning time of 46'01", more than a minute faster than 2nd place finisher Maciej Bodnar (Tinkoff-Saxo) and 3rd place finisher Alejandro Valverde (Movistar)

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Pieter Serry finished 8th in an unexpectedly chaotic 182.5km Stage 8 of La Vuelta a España, from Puebla de Don Fadrique to Murcia, on Saturday. Iljo Keisse, Niki Terpstra, and Gianluca Brambilla also played protagonists as Etixx - Quick-Step was constantly in the actions.

After a few weeks of rest and with the classics being over after my Paris-Roubaix win, I was really happy to start racing again.
