Carlos Verona was successfully operated on at Herentals Clinic for a scaphoid fracture of the left hand, which was fixed with a screw, as consequence of crash at Pais Vasco. The surgery went well and Carlos left the hospital today with a cast. He will wear the cast for 10 days and then the cast will be replaced with a brace. He will have to respect a recovery period of six-to-eight weeks, and normally can race again between 10 and 12 weeks from today.

Wisniowski finalmente encontró el deporte adecuado para él después de ensayar y equivocarse. Primero fue jugador de tenis, y después lo intentó con la natación. Pero tras esos intentos, él probó el ciclismo y descubrió que se le ajustaba perfecto. Wisniowski llega al equipo como un producto del Etixx Cycling Team, el equipo continental que estaba conectado a Etixx - Quick-Step con la esperanza de preparar a jóvenes talentos para las carreras profesionales. “He aprendido mucho y he entrenado también con los ciclistas profesionales del Etixx - Quick-Step, como mis ahora compañeros de equipo polacos Michal Golas y Michal Kwiatkowski. Realmente me ayudaron mucho. Año a año me sentí más fuerte y mejor, y después vino la transición a Etixx - Quick-Step. Son los mejores y la elección fue fácil. Ahora todos vivimos en Torun, adonde me trasladé hace unos meses. Es realmente fácil entrenar juntos de esta manera. Sobre todo en la época invernal. Es más fácil unirse a un nuevo equipo con caras conocidas, y también hay una masajista polaca en el Etixx - Quick-Step. Es bueno tener esta fuerte representación polaca en este equipo internacional”.
Wisniowski solo quiere centrarse en mejorar. “No tengo ningún objetivo específico que no sean convertirme en un correcto ciclista profesional. Solo quiero mejorar y aprender. Hay una pequeña diferencia entre las carreras en las categorías inferiores y el máximo nivel mundial. Sólo quiero ganar experiencia y crecer. Wisniowski dijo que su especialidad son las carreras planas con mucho viento, como las pruebas en Holanda y Bélgica. “Estas son las mejores carreras que realmente me gustan, así que debo encajar bien en un equipo ya que en Etixx - Quick-Step son maestros del viento”.

Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in 240km Gent - Wevelgem on Sunday. The UCI WorldTour race, considered a sprinter's Classic, includes nine Belgian climbs (hellingen) between the Casselberg, Catsberg, Baneberg, Kemmelberg, and Monteberg from Deinze to Wevelgem.
Etixx - Quick-Step dominated 196.1km Ronde van Zeeland Seaports on Saturday. Niki Terpstra, Iljo Keisse, and Lukasz Wisniowski left no doubt about their intent to go 1-2-3, when the Etixx - Quick-Step trio attacked out of a big group with 100 kilometers to go. They built a 1'50" advantage over about 15 riders left chasing, including their own teammates Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, Nikolas Maes, Matteo Trentin, and Yves Lampaert, with 70 kilometers remaining.
