2015 was the best year in Styby’s career on the road, but also in his personal life, as he became the father of a beautiful boy, Lewis. He started his season by winning in an impressive fashion Strade Bianche, a race created just a decade ago, but which is already considered one of the best in the world, thanks to its course and idyllic scenery. Then, in the summer, he took a beautiful victory at the Tour de France, out-foxing the peloton in Le Havre, followed by another one in his home race, the Czech Cycling Tour. Besides these successes, he also confirmed that he’s a true contender for the cobbled classics, by finishing second in Paris-Roubaix (his first podium in a Monument) and E3 Harelbeke.
“It was a special season for me. I recorded some beautiful wins and got to race all the Monuments. The Tour de France victory was my highlight. For 2016 I don’t have any specific goals, I just want to continue my improvement and be better than in the previous year. I made some significant steps forward since joining Etixx – Quick-Step and if I will be able to continue like that, I’m sure some nice results will come”, said Zdenek, who will once again be a rider to watch out closely in the one-day races.
