In 2014 Iljo once again had the honor of the first and last victories of the season for his team, winning Six Days of Rotterdam along with Niki Terpstra, and Six-Days Zurich alongside Mark Cavendish. Iljo has close ties to the track, especially the one in Ghent, the city where he was born and where he has already won the Six Days five times. In recent years, Iljo, who is married to An-Sofie and father to Jules and René, has also proven to be an outstanding rider on the road, a discipline to which he has now dedicated himself almost entirely with the exception of the occasional winning foray onto the track. He won Châteauroux - Classic de l'Indre in 2014. Between all of the moments he was a great supporter for his teammates.

In 2015 Iljo will again be a key team player, giving his support - significant in both quality and quantity - to the team, but without neglecting to seek victory for himself if the occasion presents itself, as in 2012 when he won an unforgettable stage of the Tour of Turkey.

Iljo's news

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Iljo Keisse earned the 30th victory of the road season for the team on Sunday, winning a two-up sprint against Luke Durbridge (Orica-GreenEDGE) after the duo escaped with 30km remaining in the conclusive 21st Stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Torino to Milano. Roger Kluge (IAM Cycling) was 3rd out of the field sprint behind.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Iljo Keisse entered a three-rider breakaway that gained a three minute advantage after 30km of a 134km Giro d'Italia Stage 17 on Wednesday. However, that breakaway, despite working well together, was given a short leash by the peloton. They were brought back with 27km to go in the stage from Tirano to Lugano.

Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in legendary Northern Classic, Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday. There are 19 Belgian climbs (Hellingen) in De Ronde, which starts in Brugge and ends in Oudenaarde after 264.9km. The most notable hellingen are at least partially cobbled and will be a factor in the final kilometers. The Koppenberg is climbed once with 45km to go and includes a max ramp of 22 percent. It was moved to later in the race in 2015, which gives riders less of a chance to recover before the next key climbs. The Oude Kwaremont (2.2km, 4.2% average gradient) is climbed at 153km to go, 53km remaining, and 17km to go. Finally, the Paterberg, only 400m in total distance but challenging nonetheless with its cobbled and steep characteristics, is ascended twice at 52km to go and 14km remaining.
