Wisniowski finally found the right sport for him after some trial and error. First he was a tennis player, and then he tried to swim. But after those attempts, he tested out cycling and discovered it was a perfect fit. Wisniowski comes to the team as a product of the Etixx Cycling Team, the continental team that was connected to Etixx – Quick-Step in hopes of preparing young talent for professional racing. “I learned a lot, and I trained also with the professional riders of Etixx – Quick-Step such as my now Polish teammates Michal Golas and Michal Kwiatkowski. They really helped me a lot. Year-by-year I got stronger and better, and then I transitioned to Etixx – Quick-Step. They are the best and the choice was easy. We now all live in Torun, as I moved there a few months ago.  It’s really easy to train together in this way. Especially in the winter time. It’s easier  to join a new team with familiar faces, and there is also a Polish soigneur on Etixx – Quick-Step. It’s nice to have such a strong Polish representation on this international team. “

Wisniowski wants to focus on just getting better.  “I don’t have any specific race goals other than to become a proper professional rider. I just want to improve and learn.  It’s a bit different between races in the lower categories and the world-class level. I just want to get experience and grow. Wisniowski  said his speciality are the flat races with a lot of wind, such as the races in Holland and Belgium. “These are the best races that I really like, so I should fit in well with the team as Etixx – Quick-Step are masters of the wind.”

Lukasz's news

Etixx - Quick-Step dominated 196.1km Ronde van Zeeland Seaports on Saturday. Niki Terpstra, Iljo Keisse, and Lukasz Wisniowski left no doubt about their intent to go 1-2-3, when the Etixx - Quick-Step trio attacked out of a big group with 100 kilometers to go. They built a 1'50" advantage over about 15 riders left chasing, including their own teammates Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, Nikolas Maes, Matteo Trentin, and Yves Lampaert, with 70 kilometers remaining.

Neo-pro Lukasz Wisniowski is in his first year with the team, after riding for the Etixx and Etixx-iHNed continental teams in the previous years. In the blog below he talks about his first races, and gives a little bit of an introduction to fans who might not know him well yet.
