In 2014 Stijn was one of the pillars of the team in the northern classics. Born in Oudenaarde, in the heart of Flanders, Stijn is a great athlete and a nice guy who can instill calm and confidence in the entire group. His influence can be seen in almost all of Boonen’s greatest victories. In 2013, at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, he achieved a fantastic second place, outsprinted by a faster Paolini after riding an attacking race. Stijn, orphaned by his captain.

In 2014 Vandenbergh earned 4th out of a breakaway in Ronde van Vlaanderen, in a race where three of the team finished in the top 10 of the race. He was also 4th at E3 Harelbeke while teammate Niki Terpstra finished 2nd.  He did not participate in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad because he became the father of a beautiful daughter the night before. Now Stijn is ready to place himself at the service of Boonen and the other team leaders again, knowing that when the opportunity arises, he won’t hesitate to go for the win. His adversaries can consider themselves warned!

Stijn's news

Etixx - Quick-Step riders Michal Kwiatkowski and Zdenek Stybar remained in good position heading into the descent of the Poggio in a hectic ending to 293km Milano-Sanremo on Sunday, but an ill-timed crash involving the UCI World Road Champion, the Czech Road Champion, along with Philippe Gilbert (BMC Racing Team) and Gerald Ciolek (MTN-Qhubeka), took those riders out of contention before the Via Roma arrival on Sunday.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Gianni Meersman finished 2nd to Kris Boeckmans (Lotto-Soudal) in a small group sprint finale at 201.2km Le Samyn on Wednesday. Christophe Laporte (Cofidis) was 3rd.

Etixx - Quick-Step took the race to the peloton with 202.2km Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday. Three riders made it into the select group that decided the race thanks to an acceleration from Etixx - Quick-Step with 43km to go.
