Paris-Roubaix, a key cobbled section. Matteo suffers a mechanical in a key moment without a team car able to help, in a race where one flat can cost you the race. But despite bad luck in the Classics he loves so much, Matteo proved once again in 2014 that he is a rider to be contended with in the peloton. First, he won a long sprint in Tour de Suisse after Tony Martin gave him a brilliant leadout that was so strong there was a gap going into the final kilometer. Then the Italian rider won the second Tour de France stage of his career, in just two participations. He won by centimeters in the 7th stage of the 2014 edition over the Slovak superstar Peter Sagan in a final that the French people call the “legendary” Le Boyau de Nancy.

In 2015 Matteo would like to keep getting better in any way there is an opportunity, and maybe with some better luck in the Classics. “You can always put your level higher with all of these opportunities and different types of races. Even if I have already won a couple stages of the Tour de France, which is a big honor, if I am only happy with that, I will never improve. You can be happy with these victories and still not be satisfied overall as a rider. I am eager to grow with teammates who work so well together and a staff that is knowledgable and supportive."

Tour de Suisse Stage 4: Trentin Arrives 9th in Schwarzenbach Sprint

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Matteo Trentin earned a 9th place finish in a fast paced, hectic 193.2km Stage 4 of Tour de Suisse on Tuesday, from Flims to Schwarzenbach.  Just 23 riders arrived at the same time as stage winner Michael Matthews (Orica-GreenEDGE), with Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo) placing 2nd and Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing Team) 3rd out of the small group sprint.

Scheldeprijs: Trentin Top 10 in Schoten

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Matteo Trentin finished 6th in the 200km group arrival of Scheldeprijs on Wednesday. The Italian rider was led out by Mark Renshaw going into the final kilometer, but it was Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) who continued his hot streak of victories by winning the race. Edward Theuns (Topsport Vlaanderen - Baloise) was 2nd, and Yauheni Hutarovich (Bretagne - Séché Environnement) was 3rd.

Etixx - Quick-Step to Ronde van Vlaanderen

Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in legendary Northern Classic, Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday. There are 19 Belgian climbs (Hellingen) in De Ronde, which starts in Brugge and ends in Oudenaarde after 264.9km. The most notable hellingen are at least partially cobbled and will be a factor in the final kilometers. The Koppenberg is climbed once with 45km to go and includes a max ramp of 22 percent. It was moved to later in the race in 2015, which gives riders less of a chance to recover before the next key climbs. The Oude Kwaremont (2.2km, 4.2% average gradient) is climbed at 153km to go, 53km remaining, and 17km to go. Finally, the Paterberg, only 400m in total distance but challenging nonetheless with its cobbled and steep characteristics, is ascended twice at 52km to go and 14km remaining.
