Paris-Roubaix, a key cobbled section. Matteo suffers a mechanical in a key moment without a team car able to help, in a race where one flat can cost you the race. But despite bad luck in the Classics he loves so much, Matteo proved once again in 2014 that he is a rider to be contended with in the peloton. First, he won a long sprint in Tour de Suisse after Tony Martin gave him a brilliant leadout that was so strong there was a gap going into the final kilometer. Then the Italian rider won the second Tour de France stage of his career, in just two participations. He won by centimeters in the 7th stage of the 2014 edition over the Slovak superstar Peter Sagan in a final that the French people call the “legendary” Le Boyau de Nancy.

In 2015 Matteo would like to keep getting better in any way there is an opportunity, and maybe with some better luck in the Classics. “You can always put your level higher with all of these opportunities and different types of races. Even if I have already won a couple stages of the Tour de France, which is a big honor, if I am only happy with that, I will never improve. You can be happy with these victories and still not be satisfied overall as a rider. I am eager to grow with teammates who work so well together and a staff that is knowledgable and supportive."

Matteo's news

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Matteo Trentin secured a 3rd place finish in the predicted sprint finale of the 14-lap, 86.8km 8th Stage of Aviva Tour of Britain on Sunday in London.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Matteo Trentin, attacking out of an original breakaway with 9.7km remaining and the gap at 16", went on to win in a two-up sprint against race leader Edvald Boasson Hagen (MTN - Qhubeka) on Friday, in the 192.7km Aviva Tour of Britain 6th Stage from Stoke-On-Trent to Nottingham.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Petr Vakoc suffered ill-timed misfortune near the end of 216km Aviva Tour of Britain Stage 3, from Cockermouth to Floors Castle, Kelso on Tuesday. The Czech Champion, wearing yellow as race leader after a solo victory the day before, crashed slightly outside the 3km mark, which meant his time lost due to the crash counted against his overall classification.
