Michal, whose name means “Flower” in Polish, will wear the rainbow stripes in 2015 thanks to a brilliant victory at the UCI World Road Championship in Spain. He attacked on the final climb with 6.9km to go, shocking the world with his solo win. Michal is a force to be reckoned with regardless of the race. He showed this in 2014 by winning a stage and the overall at Volta ao Algarve, Strade Bianche, the National TT Championship in Poland, a road stage of Tour of Britain, and of course Worlds — He was the first Polish rider in history to accomplish that last feat. If you looked at his palmares in 2014 you wouldn’t know he was a 24-year-old rider who won his first WorldTour race at Tour de Romandie the same year. Kwiatkowski was also a protagonist at the Ardennes Classics, where he finished on the podium of Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. He was the leader of the team also at the Tour de France, where he was in contention for the White Jersey. Though Michal is already world champion, in 2015 the focus remains on growing as a rider and continuing to learn at such a young age.

Michal's news

Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in Liège - Bastogne - Liège, a 253km race that concludes the Ardennes Classics, on Sunday, April 26th.

Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in La Flèche Wallonne, the second race of the Ardennes Classics, on Wednesday, April 22nd. The 2015 edition features some important changes to the parcours: The opening city is in Waremme this season, and the opening kilometers will be more difficult than past years. The larger circuit of the race has been reduced from 64km to 58.5km and the total climbs of the bigger circuit drops from six to four climbs. Then, there is the key addition of Côte de Cherave (8.1% average gradient) at 5.5km from the finish line in the smaller finishing circuit. This not only slightly lengthens the final circuit lap (29km), but also means there is a climb to tackle before the crucial Mur de Huy, which averages 9.6% but features ramps of more than 25%, at 1.3km to go. The total length of the race is now 205.5km instead of 199km.

Etixx - Quick-Step rider Michal Kwiatkowski achieved one of his main objectives, winning the first Ardennes Classic of his career on Sunday. The UCI World Road Champion won out of a select group at 258km Amstel Gold Race, as the group came together going into the final kilometer after Philippe Gilbert (BMC Racing Team) attacked over the top of his teammate Ben Hermans on the Cauberg. The tactic was the same that won Gilbert the 2014 edition of the race, but did not have the same success in the 2015 edition.

Once again this year we've wrapped up our experience at the Tour de San Luis. All things considered, this was a good transfer for team OPQS.
