Gianni Meersman aka. Merrie
Gianni's biography
Gianni is the son of Luc and grandson of Maurice Meersman, both remarkable professionals. Married and the proud dad of a girl, Gianni lives for his family. “They are the most important thing in my life. If they’re happy, I’m happy and can dedicate myself with passion and commitment to my work.” Gianni is one of the most stylish riders in the group and has a hobby, bumper pool, in which ability, precision and calculation are critical skills, just like in his victories.
In 2015, Gianni enjoyed a full-throttle start, which saw him win the inaugural edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, stage 1 of the Volta ao Algarve and Handzame Classic. Next year, Gianni will continue to pursue victories and top finishes, with the hope of adding quality and quantity: “I struggled at times, had some up-and-downs, but I’m over it now, it’s a thing of the past. I want to make up for this next year, so that’s why I began training early. I want to be consistent all year long and win races, especially World Tour ones.”
